Bayer Plus, Corteva Cash, FMC Freedom Pass, UPL Grower Rewards, 0% Financing, and more!
2021 was a big year for rebate and finance programs, and we expect much of the same for this coming season.
Here’s what we know so far about 2022.
BAYER
Bayer Plus will look similar to last year with three big exceptions. First, you can now buy a sixth product under their program, and the reward for that alone is $6 per acre! For the past two years, you have only been able to buy five products under their 2, 3, 4, 5 incentives offer. Second, the rebate with Roundup and with Xtendimax will now be only $1 per acre, not $2. Third, once you qualify for the first tier of their program, you can purchase any quantity of their partner products like Valor EZ and Fierce and receive a rebate on all the partner product acres, not just a matching amount.

CORTEVA
As I write this, I still haven’t seen their 2022 program in print, but I am told it will be much, much simpler. In 2021, Corteva’s TruChoice/Corteva Cash program was the most complicated program I have ever seen. Corteva has told me this year’s program will be very rewarding for farmers financially without all the hoops to jump through like last year.
FMC
Contrary to what Corteva has offered for the past couple of years, FMC has had a simple program. If you buy one of their products on their Freedom Pass list, you get a rebate. We haven’t seen their 2022 offer, but if I had to guess, I bet it will be similar to what they did in 2021 since it worked so well, and their sales were excellent. By the way, since we saw so many weed escapes this year after dicamba, Enlist, Liberty, Roundup, and of course conventional herbicides, my prediction is there will be more pre-emerge soybean herbicides applied in 2022, and FMC and Valent are the two companies who have the lion’s share of that market.
UPL
You may not have heard of UPL before, but they bought out Arysta a couple years ago to add to their already massive portfolio, and I believe they are the world’s fifth largest ag chemical manufacturer today. UPL has many different generic and proprietary herbicides, and they have had a Grower Rewards program for a couple years now. We expect that to continue this coming season.
0% FINANCING
Almost every company I’ve mentioned so far, along with us here at Hefty Seed Company, have zero percent finance offers. Here is the most important thing you need to know about that: BUY EARLY. For example, if you lock in zero percent financing in September, you’ll pay a September price the following winter when your loan comes due. If you lock in zero percent financing in May, you’ll pay the May price the following winter. The due date is the same. You could just save six percent or more by financing now rather than financing later. Plus, you can always switch products if you want to. What I’m saying is if you want to take advantage of a zero percent finance offer from anyone, do it this fall rather than waiting until spring. You’ll save a ton of cash!
