IF YOUR PLANTER DOESN’T HAVE AN IN-FURROW SYSTEM, HOW CAN YOU ADD NATURALS AND MICROS TO THE FURROW?
Over the past couple of years, the use of talc as a delivery mechanism for biologicals and micronutrients has increased exponentially.
At the same time, many farmers have moved away from adding in-furrow systems when upgrading their planters. For that reason, talc additive products are simplifying the cluttered in-furrow marketplace. Now, you can incorporate new technologies into the furrow without having to manage another bulky system on your planter. Adding talc additive products right to the planter box saves you time and simplifies the planter filling process.
NOW, WE’RE BRINGING FORWARD A NEW OPTION TO MAKE THIS PROCESS EVEN EASIER WHILE INCREASING THE EFFICACY OF THE PRODUCTS YOU APPLY.
On Tuesday, October 31, Hefty Seed Company and Meristem Crop Performance entered into a first-of-its-kind licensing agreement that grants Hefty Seed access to Meristem’s Bio-Capsule technology. This technology uses talc and graphite as a carrier to safely deliver biology and micronutrients in the same container without damaging the living microbes. Product components such as graphite and zinc can be detrimental to Naturals if mixed together for any extended amount of time, but with Meristem’s Bio-Capsule packaging, biological products don’t get mixed until immediately before you apply the final product.
USING THE SYSTEM IS SIMPLE.
- First, just press a tube on top of the bucket, and the contents in the tube end up in the main container.
- Then, all you have to do is shake the container for proper mixing, making the final product ready for dispensing into the planter box.
MAXX NS CORN IS THE FIRST PRODUCT WE’RE INTRODUCING THAT USES THIS TECHNOLOGY.
Available soon at a Hefty location near you, Maxx NS Corn is a combination of the 26 nutrient solubilizers found in Nutri-Cycle, the 6 strains of beneficial fungi found in Heat Shield, 1.35 lbs. of IONLOCK Zinc, and a carbon technology that helps deliver organically complexed nutrients throughout the plant system – all mixed with an 80/20 talc graphite blend for easy incorporation into the planter box, replacing the traditional blends of talc and graphite you may currently be using as a flowability agent. Each Maxx NS Corn container will treat 50 units of corn.
By using this product, you’re able to take advantage of Nutri-Cycle’s ability to solubilize minerals into nutrient form and make nutrients in the root system more available. Also, Heat Shield’s strains of beneficial fungi help crops to mitigate heat and drought stress by growing within the inner cellular walls of plants to help with Reactive Oxygen Species, the first step in managing stress in plants. The addition of 1.35 lbs. of IONLOCK delivers the equivalent of a quart of 9% EDTA zinc that you would normally use in an in-furrow system. Finally, the carbon technology ties everything together, helping to deliver nutrients from the root zone to individual cells within the plant.
By combining the benefits of Nutri-Cycle and Heat Shield – which we’ve proven out in every bag of Hefty Seed Corn and in with Hefty Complete Soybean Seed Treatment – with the application flexibility gained from Meristem’s Bio-Capsule Technology, Maxx NS ensures that if you don’t have in-furrow capabilities on your planter, you don’t miss out on the yield-enhancing power of these products.
This is a very exciting time, and the potential future applications of this technology are immense, as many biological products can be added to this system down the road. By directly combining with talc, you can get concentrated biologicals and micronutrients right on the seed in the planter box with no added systems on your planter. As advancements in the biological space continue to evolve, Hefty Seed Company continues to be in a great position to add these offerings into our portfolio.
