I love that we’re getting some new active ingredients to talk about for use in wheat. There are also some great premixes coming that you’ll really like. At the same time, orders for crop protection products have been brisk, and with the pandemic, there are issues getting products manufactured and shipped (especially from abroad). The message is clear. Talk to your crop protection supplier and pick up everything you need right away!
Here’s my list of new things to try out or talk about with your agronomist.
-
Batalium
UPL has a nice premix here of the active ingredients from Buctril + Starane + Everest. This should be a cheap way to hit broadleaves and grasses post-emerge in one shot.
-
Delaro Complete
This is labeled for several crops, including cereals. It’s a three MOA (mode of action) fungicide for flag leaf timing and more. It’s a solid product and part of the Bayer Plus program.
-
Huskie FX
This is the old Huskie plus Starane, so expect really good broad-spectrum broadleaf weed control.
-
Prosaro Pro
This is a nice improvement over Prosaro with a higher rate of Proline, a lower rate of Folicur, and an SDHI for a third MOA. Great product to try for head scab and rust protection.
-
Relenya
This is basically just Revysol as a seed treatment for wheat. It’s a promising new triazole fungicide we’re excited to see in complete seed treatment packages going forward from BASF.
-
Tarzec
This is basically Elevore + PowerFlex for winter wheat. Broadleaf plus grass control from two established active ingredients. If you are not familiar with Elevore, it’s what Corteva often refers to as Arylex. Elevore is in the same chemical family as 2,4-D and dicamba, and it has excellent burndown activity and some residual on many broadleaves.
-
Teraxxa (and Teraxxa F4 seed treatment with four fungicides + Teraxxa)
Truly exciting new MOA insecticide (Group 30) for wireworms. This product actually KILLS the wireworms instead of just repelling them like the neonicotinoids (i.e. Poncho, Gaucho, Cruiser).
-
WideARMatch
This adds Elevore and more Starane to WideMatch, leading to better control of kochia and winter annual weeds. The one watchout is it cannot be used on corn like the old WideMatch.
