As an area farmer, Jay Winland found himself making the 8-hour round trip to Hefty Seed in Bertrand, MO with his semi-trailer for the first time in 2014. As a dedicated Ag PhD student, the money he saved on product, and the do-it-yourself attitude of the Hefty team was appealing. In 2016, Winland opened the doors of Hefty Seed Company – Georgetown, IL and thoroughly enjoyed the convenience of having a Hefty’s closer to home.

Our Georgetown, IL location has since grown, and continues to expand in staff, sales, and offerings each year. Our goal is to help you do nearly anything on your operation. With a full lineup of Hefty Brand Corn and Soybeans, chemicals, naturals, and fertilizer options, you can manage all your products on one account with one trusted agronomist.

When love for agriculture runs this deep, it’s contagious. Jared Greuel’s earliest memories are of the family farm in Sigel, Illinois and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Growers who know Jared appreciate his strong background in seed, biologicals, soil sampling, and fertilizer. He’s relentless in seeking new ideas and committed to authentic relationships. After completing his Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Business, and to more formally acknowledge his devotion to continued education, Jared became a Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) in 2015.

Currently, Jared lives in East Central Illinois with his wife and two sons. Most days include an adventure of some kind either in farming, his growing family or with his customers.

Give Jared a ring or shoot him an email to learn more about his rich experience, his glory days of high school FFA and 4H,  just to talk shop, or his involvement with the Knights of Colombus. He’ll always tell it to you straight and answer the questions you didn’t know you had.
